Strengthening Organizational Knowledge

Knowledge management to improve decisions, coordination, and impact

file.jpg

Organizations continuously generate information, evaluations, reports, experiences, and learnings, but this knowledge often remains fragmented across teams, is not transferred between generations, or is not translated into concrete decisions and actions. When this happens, critical learnings are lost, efforts are duplicated, and the capacity for adaptation and organizational continuity is weakened.

At Purpose & Ideas, we support organizations in identifying, connecting, and mobilizing the knowledge they already possess, transforming it into a strategic asset to learn, decide, and act better.

We design participatory processes that combine diagnosis, collective reflection, and solution development to understand how knowledge circulates, identify gaps, and strengthen organizational capabilities. We integrate a systemic perspective that connects processes, tools, culture, and relationships, paying attention to collaboration between teams and the exchange of experiences across generations.

The value of knowledge management lies in transforming scattered learnings into collective capacity, improving coordination and decisions, and strengthening the continuity and adaptation of organizations over time.

Our experience

Purpose & Ideas has worked with research centers, foundations, networks, and international organizations on knowledge production, foresight, and strategic planning processes. Among other processes, it has developed the Context Matters framework, which enables government agencies to promote organizational changes for the use of evidence in public policy decisions; it has conducted a diagnosis on the use of evidence in UNICEF (South Asia and East Asia and the Pacific regions), the Ghana Environmental Protection Agency, and the Secretariat of Public Management of Peru; and it has supported a knowledge management process at Proyecto C, a social organization for alternative education in Argentina.

Three ways to work together

Diagnosis of Knowledge Circulation
To understand how knowledge flows between teams, areas, and generations, identify blockages, and recognize learnings and capabilities that the organization can better leverage.

Intergenerational Learning and Collaboration
To connect diverse experiences, knowledge, and perspectives, strengthen exchange between generations, and preserve critical learnings in the face of staff turnover.

Design of Knowledge Management Mechanisms
To develop practices, tools, and solutions tailored to the organization that strengthen knowledge circulation, institutional memory, collaboration, and their translation into concrete decisions and actions.

Each process is designed based on the needs and challenges of each organization. If you want to strengthen knowledge circulation, recover learnings, and enhance collective capacities to decide and act, let's talk.
